Detail Decision Model Steps 9 and 10
STEP 9: Look at the probability and seriousness of each of the risks associated with each alternative to evaluate the negative aspects of the idea/alternative. In this way, you are now taking into consideration the adverse consequences of each idea to get a better balanced decision. Ideas that have a risk attached that is a High probability and High seriousness to your career should the risk materialize should give you pause for concern and potentially cause you to eliminate the idea. But, think about ways that you might be able to minimize the risk if it did manifest, or ways that you might be able to eliminate the problem from happening in the first place -- these are additional steps that you might undertake to protect an alternative from elimination.
STEP 10: Put away your analysis and see what your mind does with the ideas you have explored. You have documented your thoughts and have been as honest as you could be through the process. You can return to your analysis at any time to review what you have done and to make any necessary adjustments based on new information or new thought. Having gone through such a rigorous process has led you to put together and evaluate your wants and needs, your ideas, your evaluative criteria, and your fears. You have freed your mind to work more efficiently and intuitively for you by taking and formatting all the detail of your thoughts into an organized set of notes for continued reflection, revision, and refinement.
