Meet Norm Meshriy

Norm Meshriy is a Master Career Counselor, Distance Credentialed Counselor, and Principal of Career Insights, a career consulting firm.  Norm has had an extensive Information Technology career and made a rather major career change in midlife.  In his Information Technology career, Norm was consistently recognized for his interpersonal skills and leadership development.

In 1983 he was selected to become one of the Management Development Instructors to deliver leadership programs throughout the world for the company.  He served in this capacity for over two years in the period 1983 through 1886.  Norm team-taught in 55 week-long programs in California; delivered tailored programs for New York and overseas units -  in Selsdon Park, England for manager of Europe, the Middle East and Africa -  in Bangkok, Thailand for managers in Asia.  Because of exceptional success in the classrooms, video labs, and one-on-one coaching, he was promoted to Manager of Instructors in this assignment.

In 1987, Norm returned to graduate school to earn a Masters Degree in Counseling with a specialty in Career Management.  He is now principal of Career Insights, a career consulting practice operating in San Francisco and Walnut Creek; he consults for Power Transitions, an outplacement firm; and serves as adjunct faculty member of both John F. Kennedy University, School of Management and San Francisco State University, School of Health and Human Services.   He has participated at major plant closures for Heinz and Procter & Gamble, and worked with executives and displaced workers of many industries, with focus on the high tech firms in Silicon Valley and throughout the greater San Francisco Bay Area.  Norm served 5 years as President of Bay Area Entrepreneur Association, and is a longtime member and former board member of the Walnut Creek Chamber of Commerce.

Norm is an author of a book - Thinking Outside the Cubicle published by New Harbinger Publications, Inc., in early 2003.    This is a book targeted to people that want to explore change.  The book provides insights, and many tips and techniques to improve their present situation.  The thought of the book is that there are real, tangible steps that can be taken in present situation to build skills, take some risk, and make changes right now.
